National Republicans cheered when state Arizona state Sen. Jonathan Paton announced he would challenge Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in November. Democrats have already started to attack him. But both sides might be fixated on the wrong guy. Arizona state Democrats have tried to link Paton to predatory payday lenders, and the Arizona Democratic Party has filed an ethics complaint against him. Paton has second-tier status in the NRCC's "Young Guns" program for promising candidates and the National Republican Congressional Committee's recruiting chair, Rep. Kevin McCarthy, is a big personal fan. But Paton still faces a primary against former Marine Sgt....

The field of candidates vying for the Republican nomination in Congressional District 8 just got a little smaller. Four candidates are left in the primary after Andy Goss dropped out of the race this morning. Goss said he will support Jesse Kelly in the primary. Goss exit leaves Kelly, Jonathan Paton, Brian Miller and Jay Quick in the race to face off against incumbent Democrat Gabrielle Giffords in November. Goss, who works for a private military training firm, said he is too busy traveling to devote enough time to campaign fundraising. No bucks, no Buck Rogers, Goss said just before...

"The priority for our players is to recognize they are at the University of Notre Dame to play for Our Lady" --new head football coach of Notre Dame, Brian Kelly, in his (fundraising) letter to the alumni. "Father Jenkins' decision [to invite President Obama to speak at Notre Dame and award him an honorary degree] is a deliberate thumbing of the collective nose at the Catholic Church...Notre Dame has forfeited the right to be called a Catholic University" --from recently deceased professor of philosophy, Ralph McInerny, who taught for over 50 years at Notre Dame (and who recalled when the department's...

The name of President Obama came into play this afternoon at the political corruption trial of former governor Rod Blagojevich as an associate of political fund-raiser Tony Rezko testified that Rezko asked him to write a $10,000 check to Friends of Obama. The Chicago Sun-Times reported in January 2008 that Glenview businessman Joseph Aramanda, who is testifying today, made the donation as part of a scheme orchestrated by Rezko. Aramanda gave $10,000 in campaign cash to Obamas U.S. Senate campaign on March 5, 2004, according to records. The money came from part of a finders fee Aramanda received, but did...

In a debate held Monday, June 14th, sponsored by the Green Valley-Sahaurita TEA Party, Jesse Kelly won a straw poll with 44% of the vote. Jonathan Paton, garnered 32%, Brian Miller 21% and Andy Goss finished with 2%. In this YouTube clip Jesse takes the McCain-backed establishment candidate, Jonathan Paton, to task on his legislative record highlighting the fact that it takes more than talking like a conservative to be one. There is an excelent article summarizing the debate that is unfortunately at a site that cannot be posted on FR due to posting guidelines. If you google "Jesse kelly...

Citing multiple irregularities in this week's election of party leaders, a couple of dissident Philadelphia Republicans want the Republican State Committee to void Vito Canuso's re-election as city GOP chairman. Kevin J. Kelly, a newly elected State Committee member and outspoken critic of the local Republican organization, and his attorney, Matthew Wolfe, the Republican leader of University City's 27th Ward, filed a formal petition yesterday contending that Canuso violated state election laws and the party's own bylaws when ward leaders convened Wednesday night to elect a citywide leadership slate. If all the legal issues had been properly handled, the petition...

Note to Democrats: Posing with a gun just to woo a certain voting demographic is not always prudent. Posing with a gun when your rival's motto is "Send a Warrior to Congress" is, uh, really not prudent. Indeed, former U.S. Marine and Republican Jesse Kelly, who led a combat platoon in Iraq and is now running for Congress in Arizona, has spotted wishful fakery on the campaign trail.....Excerpt, read more at:Washington Times

A King County jury unanimously agreed Wednesday that a Seattle police officer was facing "an imminent threat of death" or serious injury when he shot and killed Maurice Clemmons, a man wanted for the slayings of four Lakewood police officers. Clemmons approached Officer Ben Kelly about 2:40 a.m. Dec. 1 in the 4400 block of South Kenyon Street while the officer was checking out a stolen car. Kelly testified that he recognized Clemmons, who was the subject of two-day manhunt, by the large mole on his left cheek.

They have the endorsement of Sarah Palin and the support of a few fearless Hollywood celebrities. Co-founded by former congressman Barry Goldwater, Combat Veterans for Congress is a feisty political action committee endorsing 23 fiscally conservative, Republican combat veterans running for office in 16 states - from Jesse Kelly in Arizona to Vaughn Ward in Idaho - both former Marines. "I believe these great veterans will fight for us in D.C. to uphold and defend our Constitution as courageously in the halls of Congress as they did on the field of battle," Mrs. Palin says of this political platoon, set...

In Congressional District 8, GOP hopeful Jesse Kelly asked his supporters to respond to a big Jonathan Paton fundraiser by helping him with a little cash. "While these insiders are drinking champagne and writing big checks, will you send $17.30 now to Jesse Kelly?" his release read. Folks in attendance at the Paton fundraiser report that there was diet soda and light beer. But alas, no champagne. And this time, Paton didn't leave with any leftovers. Meanwhile, the Kelly campaign the following day had a change in leadership. Campaign manager Bret Summers stepped down from his position, leaving it to...

Here is video of Dana Perino - former Press Secretary for President George W. Bush - explaining to Megyn Kelly why comparisons by the Left between the "Shoe Bomber -Richard Reid," and the "Underwear Bomber" - Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, are like "comparing apples and oranges." Perino explained that the Shoe Bomber attack happened only two months after 9/11, and there was no apparatus set up to deal with enemy combatants. The Obama Administration deliberately bypassed all the avenues of interrogation and places for holding enemy combatants and chose to mirandize Abdulmutallab with less than an hour of questioning. Perino said...

Here is a clip of the opening remarks of our Son-in-Law, Jesse Kelly, at the first debate between three of the candidates seeking the Republican nomination for the 2010 congressional election in the 8th district of Arizona. I am, of course, biased as to who would be the best candidate to un-seat Gabby Giffords, (D), AZ8, but I belive Jesse will not only win the nomination, but also defeat Giffords in November. This Marine vet is clear, concise, and passionate and needs conservative support. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WewLDR05G0

The first GOP debate for the Arizona 8th Congressional District was held 01/07/2010 at the Saddlebrooke Republican Club. Check out the YouTube link to hear the opening remarks from our Son-in-Law, Jesse Kelly. Jesse had a very strong showing and I believe that he not only has a very good chance to defeat Gabrielle Giffords, (D) AZ-8, but also, in a step to return the Federal Government to it's rightful place, NEEDS to win in November. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WewLDR05G0
